Yantra Yoga
Yantra Yoga or the Yoga of Movement is an ancient system of Tibetan yoga based on the text The Union of the Sun and the Moon, which was written down in the 8th century by the master Vairochana, but its oral transmission is even more ancient. Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, one of the most important spiritual leaders in Tibetan Buddhism and founder of the international Dzogchen community, introduced Yantra Yoga to the West and has taught it since the early seventies.
Yantra Yoga makes use of harmonious movements and different aspects of breathing to enable one to have awareness of one’s body and control of one’s breathing, which are the principle means for coordinating one’s vital energy (prana).
Our physical and mental well-being depends on the condition of our prana and so it is fundamentally necessary for it to be balanced. Through Yantra Yoga we can obtain a good physical condition and a calm, relaxed and present mental state, which is the basis for a deeper knowledge of ourselves.
